A "pending" amount appears on my statement: Has the payment been deducted?

When you sign up for a subscription, we ask your bank to reserve the amount of your first payment: your share, calculated on a pro-rata basis based on the number of days remaining in the month, and the service fee. This amount often appears as “pending” or “in progress” on your statement or in your banking app. It hasn’t been debited yet.

What happens to this amount?

  • If your subscription goes through as expected, the payment is finalized a few days later. The hold is then replaced by a final debit for the same amount. This is not a duplicate payment.

  • If your membership doesn’t go through (spot already taken, subscription canceled by the owner before payment is finalized): the hold is canceled. Nothing is charged, no refund will appear since no payment was made, and the reservation will automatically disappear from your statement within the next few days, depending on your bank: each bank has its own timeframe for releasing a reservation.

And what about each month? Renewal is processed on the 1st of the month; the charge appears on your statement 2 to 4 days later. See How do subscription renewals work?

What about when adding a card? A small test authorization (€0.50, or the equivalent in your currency) is processed and then canceled; it is never charged. See How do I manage my credit cards/payment methods?

Did you sign up for a subscription by mistake? Don’t cancel the subscription: contact us via “Contact Sharesub Support,” specifying the subscription, and our team will see what can be done.

Don’t recognize the charge? It may be from another Sharesub account opened with a different email address or Google login. If that’s not the case, please contact us.
