A “pending” amount appears on my statement: has the amount already been charged?

When you join a subscription, we ask your bank to reserve the amount of your first payment: your share, calculated pro rata based on the number of days remaining in the month, and the service fees. This amount often appears as “pending” or “processing” on your statement or in your banking app. It has not yet been charged.

What happens to this amount?

  • Your subscription goes through normally: the payment is finalized a few days later. The reservation is then replaced by a final charge for the same amount. This is not a double payment.

  • Your subscription does not go through (the spot has already been taken, or the subscription owner stopped the subscription before the payment was finalized): the reservation is cancelled. Nothing is charged, no refund will appear because no payment was made, and the reservation disappears from your statement within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank.

What happens every month? The renewal is authorized on the 1st of the month; the charge appears on your statement 2 to 4 days later. See How do subscription renewals work? 🔄

What happens when adding a card? A small test authorization (€1) is made and then cancelled; it is never actually charged. See How do I manage my credit cards/payment methods? 💳

Did you join a subscription by mistake? Do not leave the subscription: contact us via “Contact Sharesub support”, specifying the subscription concerned, and our team will look into what can be done.

You don't recognize the amount? It may come from another Sharesub account created with a different email address or through a Google login. If this is not the case, contact us.
